The house itself has been restored and enlarged using all original stone and granite. It is now a modern, light and spacious family home having four double bedrooms, two sitting rooms, kitchen/breakfast room, dining room and entrance hall. The downstairs is open-plan and has large picture windows on the east, south and west which get the sun all day long. The entrance hall is spacious, the kitchen breakfast room is fully equipped including a range cooker, the summer sitting room overlooks the garden and front patio, the dining room overlooks the heated swimming pool and large west facing patio and the winter sitting room has a traditional granite fireplace for an open fire. There is also a large utility room with loads of storage as well as a smaller room for freezer, wine storage etc. Behind the kitchen there is a small lobby leading to a downstairs cloakroom. Off the entrance hall, there is a double bedroom with an excellent large ensuite bathroom. The floors are all tiled with creamy white ceramic tiles which also adds to the feeling of light and space.

A marble half-circle staircase leads to upstairs which has wooden floors. There are three double bedrooms a large shower room and a separate dressing room which can double as a small bedroom for children but which could be turned into a further bathroom if required. The whole house is plumbed, centrally heated and double-glazed to a very high standard and all the windows have electronic shutters for easy close-down and complete security.

The grounds of the house are park-like and easy to maintain. Due to a planned plantation programme, there are over two hundred trees and selected shrubs at carefully chosen locations all around the grounds. They reflect a wide and interesting variety and are completely safe for children and animals. About three years ago, a 5metre by 10 metre heated swimming pool was installed meeting all modern French security requirements, including electrically operated pool cover. It is surrounded by pale non-slip tiles for a really fabulous pool sitting/eating area and pool house. There is practically unlimited parking by the house and a central island for easy in and out access.. There is a good size garage with a tiled floor and a storage loft, plus an attached carport . At the back of the house, there is a huge stock of cut logs, enough to last a lifetime, for use in the open fire.

In addition, in the grounds, a small stone building has been recently refurbished as a compact cottage which acts as overspill to help accommodate extra visitors or family. This cottage is completely self-contained and has its own kitchen, shower and toilet as well as sleeping room upstairs. There is also an outbuilding well hidden in the grounds for storing boats, mowers, etc.

La Cour overlooks an excellent golf course which is currently being increased to 18 holes this year. It is usually un-crowded and not expensive to play and has a good clubhouse. The house has stunning views over the lake which is quite beautiful in all seasons. The lake can be accessed from the grounds for walks, sailing or fishing. There is a sailing club nearby which hires out small boats but, again, it is relatively under-used and unspoilt.

The nearest town is Vire, which is a traditional market town, about 45 minutes due east from the coast at Granville.
The land surrounding the house consists of about three acres, making the house completely private. However, additional land is available, with newly installed ranch-style fencing, which would be very suitable for horses and is currently used for grazing sheep. La Cour is an extensive property with a local infrastructure in place to support its maintenance, including someone to cut the grass, look after the pool, do the housework and fix any problem that may arise. They would all be happy to continue this for a new owner if required and this can be arranged. Distance from ports – Caen around 1 hour, Cherbourg 1 hour 45 minutes and the tunnel around 4 hours.

The price for the house and its three acres is 580.000 euros plus notaire’s fees. If you would like to come over to view, please give us a ring and we will either be there to show it to you or arrange for someone to do this.
